Why are most of the cosmetic companies producing ';mineral'; make-up?

What's the advantage? Why is it supposed to be so good. I have tried several brands and am not too impressed so far. Would someone kindly enlighten me?Why are most of the cosmetic companies producing ';mineral'; make-up?
As more people come to understand the toxicity of many of the ingredients commonly used in make-up, the manufacturers are developing lines without some of those ingredients, i.e. fillers, binders, preservatives, many of which are made from petroleum. They are marketed as being safer, less toxic, more natural, etc.

Those claims are true for SOME lines, primarily the small labels -- the kind you'll find in a good health food store. The term 'mineral make-up' has no regulation or legal definition -- anyone can put it on their product regardless of its content. The major manufacturers are using technologies that change the behaviour of the ingredients and also using industrial by-products, 'minerals' that aren't found in the earth.

The idea is good, but the practice often isn't.Why are most of the cosmetic companies producing ';mineral'; make-up?
Its supposibly helps the skin since it contains ';minerals'; . I;m not exactly sure how many minerals are in it, and its being said that it wont harm you if you sleep with it on because its ';Good'; for you.

However, im not impressed.

I feel like its a ploy to make more money.
Mineral makeup is suppose to be better for your skin.

I heard that mineral makeup does not irrate, or whatever the other regular makeup does, your skin.

I have not tried it because I find mineral makeup to be insanely expensive.

I think it probably clogs up your pores. I'm not a big fan of makeup and don't wear it unless we are going out at night or for some fancy occasion.

Probably they make a fortune off of the stuff. I doubt it does anything special other than captivate people with advertising.
it apparently it better for your skin but i thinks its because of the going green trend and they want to be part of it and make money off the market that want to buy more ';natural'; things to help the enviorment
it's oil-free and supposed to be better for your skin
