Physicians Formula. I've been using it for a few weeks and noticed a difference right away. It was about $10 or $11 at Target.
Make sure it's ';Talc-Free';. It's a lot better for your skin. Apply with a big brush, the brush it comes with is very small.
Bare Naturale by L'Oreal is supposed to be a good alternative.
I asked the same question not too long ago, I was told to try Physicians Formula. It works awesome!! Buy the kind that's says talc free. I've found the $$ ones have this in them and make my face appear shiney. I love the powder foundation, and the bronzer. Get it! Get it a Walgreens or Walmart, runs about 10 bucks.

Sheer cover mineral makeup is like a cheaper version of bare minerals
I personally think that Bare Minerals is worth the money. It lasts a long time (both in the jar and on your face) and it is natural. I have tried some of the ones that have come out recently (high end and low end) and still go back to Bare Escentuals. If you are going to spend money on one makeup item - it should definitely be on your foundation.

Warmth is good for the overall glow for your face and their blushes last all day too. The Mineral Veil really does give your face an airbrushed look. I have oily skin and I hardly break out any more----I guess all that MAC, Christian Dior, Chanel , Lancome makeup had too much gunk in it for my sensitive skin b/c I would break out all the time.
Almay I heard is supposed to be good to your skin too, but i haven't tried it. But you can get Almay in the drugstore.
Benefit cosmetics has really cute lipgloss and I have one that is a light orange/peachy color. But you can save money again and go to the drugstore for lipgloss.

And I think it's the best one out there... sheer cover was originally made to cover scars and big imperfections, so you'll get a heavier coverage. Bare minerals is light and has a creamy finish. yeah lighting is crucial to make-up, generally it will look darker in the sun, so easy-does-it during the day. Night time is another story, you can go heavier.

yeah lighting is crucial to make-up, generally it will look darker in the sun, so easy-does-it during the day. Night time is another story, you can go heavier.

Since I used CIinique 3step for (#3) oily combination skin + Even Better, also I used Bare mineral make up during the day. Now I breakout plus have some small bumps around my cheek and chin(When I squeeze it white stuff comes out ) . Make sure that you are using the Dramatically Different GEL and not the lotion because the gel is oil free and oil absorbing. If you have not been using the 3 step for at least two weeks, wait it out, there is an adjustment period. You can use a gentle scrub on the whiteheads, but don't use it on active breakout (red pimples).
Most certain it is the Bare Minerals this is because of the high bismuth content it clogs your pores and creates very hard to get rid of acne. I do not have personal experience with Clinique 3 step. But I can suggest a great alternative company that has truly unique products that truly WORK.

All makeup is made with minerals, thats where the color comes from; all shades of brown are from iron oxides (commonly known as rust) which is what base and blush and concealer use as a primary colorant. The blue, green, red, pinks are from dyes but often they are mixed with mica and silicates to produce a shimmery finish. White eyeshadow is simply talc/chalk (another natural mineral) ; they add a little iron oxide to make it biege and a little more to make it brown. To make it shimmer they add the mica. See how it works...

bare minerals by bare escentuals is the best one i've found in over 28 years. it covers well, stays on all day, and looks %26amp; feels completely natural. the company invented mineral make-up 30 years ago, won awards with it (elle, allure, in-style, glamour, etc.). it is also the only brand recommended by the national skincancer foundation, because it is actually good for the skin. you can try it out for yourself at any ulta, sephora, macy's, or nordstrom store, to form your own opinion, before spending any money. you won't have that option with sheer cover (inferior, more expensive), everyday minerals, or bee luscious; those have to be ordered online, and paid for, sight unseen. the 25.00 foundation lasts me about one year, that's how little is needed.

Yes! I've used pressed powder for a long time until I discovered this stuff.
The eyeshadow is really nice, if you get the glittery/shimmery stuff, it packs a lot of shine cuz of all the glitter particles!
As for the powder foundation, I've been using it for like 5 years, I LOVE it. It gives you an airbrushed look and doesn't cake like pressed powder. It also lets your skin breathe unlike liquid makeup (which I tried once, HATED and never touched again).
Plus, if you get the more expensive stuff, it can even be GOOD for your skin, as in nourish it.

It is very lightweight and gives full coverage without looking or feeling like wou are wearing a makeup mask...ick

The cons are that they are messy to apply, don't do much for large pores or wrinkles, and if you have any dry patches at all it's like putting them under a magnifying glass. I didn't know that my face was dry until I put these on!

So it will be quite obvious you've got ';something'; all over your face. It also doesn't blend very well.
L'Oreal Bare Naturale isn't sparkly and does seem to blend fairly well, but this one was worse about accentuating dry spots.
IMHO, ';mineral makeup'; is a fad, and most is no better or worse for you than a regular foundation. And you should still wash your face every night!!

Well i always go with the animal hair bcuz the vegan brushes might not spread the powder ur using around well enough but yah ....just my opinion but u can go to Wal Mart and buy one of each and test them out....it works lol thats what i did! ahhahaha

i use it %26amp; love it! it is a fantastic product it is the only thing i have ever used that doesn't make my skin go bad it actually improves my skin. Also it doesn't actually feel like you are wearing any makeup. It gives you good coverage but like any mineral makeup you first put a sheer layer on then just gradually keep applying until u reach the coverage that u want. also its quite reasonable in price too cos u don't use alot of product %26amp; i find it lasts along time. i started using it about 6months ago %26amp; will never use anything else again.Has anyone used nude by nature mineral make up?

That's Micabella. They have a booth at the mall. I think it's really neat how the eyeshadow can be used for all that. I bought a few shades. I generally only use them as eyeshadow but I did try one as a lipgloss. It has a weird texture though. I also used it as eyeliner. I really like it because they are really glittery.

I use the skin rev-er upper moisturizer under the foundation and it stays on all day. Previously I suffered from adult onset acne. Regular liquid make up really is a vicious cycle. You use more to cover up and the more you use the worse the blemishes are. If you are thinking about it I would recommend that you try it and at least see what you think. There is a brand on EBay that is super cheap called Mountain Minerals my sister is allergic to the bismuth in Bare Minerals so she uses it, and has also had great results.

absolutely, its THE best for acne prone skins because its all natural. it wont irritate or clog your skin and with the mineral base being natural its actually healing for your skin. Check the ingredient list thogh, especially Bare Essentials because their powder contains Bismuth- a really nasty chemical and if the any company makes a compact powder RUN because it needs a base of Dimethicone to make it set as a compact. this stuff is really bad and has cancer causing properties. After searching for months I found an Aussie brand called chimare mineral makeup who are 100% natural and organic. My skin has cleared up so much since I started using it- even my boyfriend comments on how good my skin looks!

well............... a little. It doesn't dry out your face and it stays in longer with out wearing out. But it cost a lottttttttttt more. I'm 32 and still wear bon-bon eye shadow. i sound like I'm 11 but it's 88 cents and works!!!!!!!!!

ok i have to say i just started using mineral make up a few days ago.... and wow! I went to ulta and was looking around and a girl that works there started trying things on me. She tryed Pur Minerals and I was amazed!! Now let me just say.... i have terrible terrible skin. I have a lot of acne and i mean a lot. All she did was dust some Pur Minerals 4 in 1 foundation on my face and everything was gone. You couldnt see any of my acne and it was amazing. It felt like i had nothing on and it took like 2 seconds to put on. The coverage is a thousand times better than bare minerals. bare minerals doesnt cover anything. But this is amazing and it feels like there is nothing on ur face, but it loooks incredible and covers everything. But, the lady that worked at ulta did not use the Pur Minerals ';chizzle brush';. Instead she used the ';Bare Minerals Heavenly Face Brush';. I asked her why she didnt just use the brush that went with it and she said it gives a lot more coveraage.....which it does! The heavenly face brush is expensive...30 dollars....but it lasts forever and works very well with the product to give great coverage!!! I dont reccomend to get the starter kit for the pur minerals because it is kind of pointless. But right now at Ulta they are having a buy one get one free deal for the pur minerals which is a great deal because for one foundation it is 25 dollars so if u go to ulta you can get 2 for one! its a great deal and make sure u buy the heavenly face brush bc its totally wotrth it!! The coverage is really nice though, I naturally have slight rosacea and redness in the face and with the makeup on my skin is very even.
I haven't actually bought mineral makeup, but the lady @ the Bare Escentuals counter applied mineral foundation on me and the coverage is very light. It's not bad, but I only recommend it for people with oily skin who don't need much coverage.

Should I buy Covergirl Mineral Make-Up or Bare Minerals?
I've been wanting to try Bare Minerals for years, but can't bring myself to spend the money. Now I see that CoverGirl has a Mineral Make-up product, and they are my usual make-up brand. I want to try the CoverGirl stuff, but it's $11 dollars for the foundation. If I'm going to spend $11 should I just spend double that and try Bare Minerals?

PROS*
-it covers fairly well
-hides blemishes fairly well (although it is quite shiny which can accentuate blemishes)
-is more natural than drugstore/mainstream brands of foundation
CONS*
-it is not as natural as they say, they say no preservatives but if you flip over the mineral veil, it has the worst preservatives out there, paraben preservatives that have links to cancers
-it looks very greasy on oily skin (almost like your face is sweating) this can be a problem for those who have acne as shine acentuates blemishes
-it can slide off during the day and needs to be reapplied frequently
-they use a mineral that is well known to have a very high allergy rating, it is called bismuth oxychloride and has a cult like following of those who experience, rash, acne and irritation from it.
DRUGSTORE BRANDS- I always recommend to completley stay away from all drugstore brands as they are loaded with chemicals, fillers, irritating ingredients, that not only lok cheap, orangey and weird but also can wreak havoc on your skin causing breakouts, and oily/dry skin patches

Has mineral make-up made your face look darker?
I went and bought all the Bare Minerlas stuff and I have come to notice that after a few hours I applied the foundation my face starts to look darker. I dunno why because I used to use MAC and I never had that problem, so I'm back to using MAC now. I love their mascara and stuff, but I don't understand why the foundation makes my face look darker, anybody know?

Not that it matters, as you've found a product you prefer but I would think that as the color is changing over time that it's the base you're putting it on interacting with the makeup. Were you letting your mositurizer soak in for 10 minutes before applying the make-up? I do know that you aren't supposed to apply it over moisturizer that you have just put on. If you ever want to go back to BE you might try a different moisturizer as well as using it right after washing your face and then wait 10-15 minutes before applying makeupHas mineral make-up made your face look darker?
Your shade could be too dark... I don't like B.E. I found a drugstore brand that works way better! I was very surprised with how great of quality it is... I usually wear MAC but now I am sticking with Prestige Skin Loving Minerals makeup!

It could be that you're using the wrong shade. I inherited my grandmother's white (not even a yellow or pink undertone) Irish skin. I have to order a special foundation online that matches my skin color.
I am not sure why Bare MInerals looks dark on your face, I use Bare minerals as well and I have not had that problem. Maybe try using a different shade or mixing 2 shades together to get your perfect skin tone match.

Mac is not good for your skin, but it does cover. As for mineral make up some cover pretty well and some don't. Glominerals foundation covers very well, but lets say jane iredale foundation is more sheer but i use there concealer with it and it give a good amount of coverage. My friend used bare essentials and said it didn't cover well at all. Stick with liquid foundation and pressed powders they give the most coverage. Just a powder won't do.

Mac is not good for your skin, but it does cover. As for mineral make up some cover pretty well and some don't. Glominerals foundation covers very well, but lets say jane iredale foundation is more sheer but i use there concealer with it and it give a good amount of coverage. My friend used bare essentials and said it didn't cover well at all. Stick with liquid foundation and pressed powders they give the most coverage. Just a powder won't do.
If you want to go natural (which honestly is the best because your skin can absorb up to 5lbs of make up a year) and want coverage i would go for the glominerals. Plus mac made me breakout.Is mac make up good for your skin or mineral make up but people say mineral make doesnt cover anything?

I haven't tried L'Oreal but I do use Neutrogena Oil Free make-up b/c, like you, i have oily skin. I've found that it works really well. But another thing you should know if you've got oily skin (if you didnt know already) is that you should always apply make-up w/ a sponge b/c our hands/fingers contain natural oils which doesn't help already oily skin on our face. It all depends on your skin type. Dry- stay away from mineral. It will feel chalky on your skin. If your oily you probly will like it. Thats what my clients have told me at least. I am oily and I love bare essentials. But I also love Clinique superfit liquid. Your best bet is to have them tried on @ a dept store. Its free, its there job, and they always have free samples. Both are really good, but there are a couple things to think about. First, the season: liquids are better for the fall and winter months because they add extra moisture to your skin, minerals help skin stay clear in spring and winter and also have a lighter look to them (and you want to look more natural in the warmer months). Then, you have to remember your skin type, because minerals are probably better for breakout-prone skin because of, well, the minerals, and because it won't clog pores (which isn't as big of a problem in winter). That's about it, good luck!

What are the pros and cons of mineral make up??
I started buying Bare Minerals a few months before my wedding three years ago. I was desperate to find some kind of makeup that wouldn't wear off during the long day and would make me feel comfortable. I will NEVER use another make up again. It is so weightless that it feels like you don't have any make up on! Plus, I used to have acne from using liquid make up and other make ups with oils. I have pretty much no acne now and when I have the very occassional break out, my Bare Minerals makeup covers the imperfections beautifully!
It is more expensive than other makeups I've tried, but it is so worth it! Plus a little bit goes a long way! So it probably actually equals out in the end because I buy it a lot less often. Plus I'm not spending money trying new kinds of makeup all the time that ultimately don't end up looking the way I wish they would.

its cheap and goes a very long way, always buy it from a cosmetic ingredientc company, not off the supermarket shelved, you'll get literally 100 times as much for the same money, pure minerals don't 'go off' though you do need to use the same care with brushes etc as usual, and generally they are fully intermixable.What are the pros and cons of mineral make up??
Mineral make-up is truly awesome. You only need a light dusting all over your face and a second dusting around the eyes. It lasts all-day and is waterproof (sweat-proof, thus great in the summertime). It feels like your wearing nothing but there is great coverage. It is gentle on the pores and you can sleep in it occassionally (say after a party if your sleepy), but try not to. It is natural, with mica which has a light reflecting property that reduces the look of dark shadows under the eye or around the mouth region. I have personally experienced less puffiness in the eye region. But remember it is natural with unlisted minerals that may not be so healthy when placed on the skin....are these metals safe???
